A hobby that I enjoy is reading, and by doing this I have read many books by a variety of authors. But, I have favorites, which are John Green, Veronica Roth, and James Dashner. As you may already know, John Green is the author of the ever popular book "The Fault In Our Stars", but he has also written other great books including Paper Towns, Looking For Alaska, An Abundance Of Katherines, Will Grayson Will Grayson, and Let It Snow. I really like the way John Green writes because his books have taught me to look at life from a different perspective, which makes me appreciate the life I live more than I had before I read any of his novels. Veronica Roth, the author of the Divergent series, is another favorite author of mine. I think in her books, she has taught me what true sacrifice is, and what true friends will do for one another in order to save someone's life. I recently finished Allegiant, and while the ending was pretty sad, I still think that it was a beautiful way to end the book. James Dashner is my third favorite author who wrote the Maze Runner series and the Mortality Doctrine. I think his books bring out the curious side in me, due to the level of mystery and adventure in his novels. All 3 author's books are movies or soon will be, which makes me happy to know that I can see the book that I read play out on the big screen. I will definitely continue to read any new books that they publish in the future. Lastly, I really enjoy John Green, Veronica Roth, and James Dashner's novels, and if I ever got the chance to meet them, I would want to thank them for changing my life through the power of books.
Out of all the people I could choose as my hero, I think my mom would be the person that has the most influence on me. I say this because she has taught me valuable life lessons, as well as she is a two-time survivor of breast cancer. In 2003 and 2011, my mom found out that she had breast cancer. So soon after she decided to get a mastectomy, so that she didn't have to go through chemo and radiation. I remember the day of her second surgery, which the date was 11/11/11, and I had to go to school. Before I left, I hugged my mom and told her to be brave. That day at school, I made a card for my mom and got all my 5th grade classmates to sign it, as well as my 2 teachers. I remember the car ride to the hospital, as I was excited to see my mom to give her the card. When she received the card later that night, I will never forget the look of pure happiness that spread across her face, as well as the tears that welled up in her eyes. As my dad and I left later that night, it made me feel happy to know that I made my mom's day, and that she would be a little happier than she may have been that morning. To me my mom is my hero because she always gives me great advice. I also think that my mom is very strong and a fighter, since she fought and survived breast cancer twice.
That is my story of who my hero is! Of course I have celebrity heroes, but I thought I would tell you guys about my personal hero. Who is your hero? Playing piano - This is something that some people may not know about me, but I really enjoy learning new songs. Currently, I'm attempting to learn about 4 songs all at once! But I can play full songs or just a few chords to a song. For example, I can play the beginning chords to All Of Me by John Legend, the beginning chords to Lost Boy by Ruth B, and the beginning chords to Echo by Jason Walker. I can also play Joy To The World and Silent Night. If I don't know how to play a song, I'll look up a tutorial on YouTube, which helps me tremendously.
Texting/using my phone - Yes, I am definitely a typical teen, since I spend quite a lot of time on my phone per day. Some of my favorite things to do on my phone is listen to music, play games (like Crossy Road), text my friends, check all my social media, and take selfies. Writing stories - Using my new laptop, I really enjoy writing stories about all kinds of topics. For example, I have written funny commercials and little short stories. I've written many stories, but, I never seem to finish them, even if I say I will. But maybe someday I'll publish a story I've written, I think that'd be pretty cool! Those are a few of my hobbies that I enjoy doing in my free time. Comment and tell me what your favorite hobbies are! Thanks for reading! In this day and age, social media keeps people very connected to events and such going on worldwide. Like most kids and teens, I have many different accounts on many different apps. Here are a couple favorites.
1.) Twitter - Whether I'm live tweeting with the cast and producers of a new show or movie, or just checking my feed, I really enjoy using Twitter. Sometimes, I'll check my feed as soon as I wake up, or maybe even stay up late scrolling through random accounts! What I really like is that there are no limits to what you can say in a tweet, and that you can post a picture to further explain your tweet. I also enjoy being able to favorite or retweet someone's tweet. Overall, I really love using Twitter to share what's going on around me and to share my thoughts and feelings with the world! 2.) Instagram - What I really like about Instagram is posting selfies and other pictures with my followers. I like that I can like other people's posts and comment on them to share my opinion. I also like finding quotes to use for my bio, and these quotes can be about anything like song lyrics, life, and friendship. All in all, Instagram is a fun photo sharing site, that I find very fun to be on! 3.) Tumbr - This cool blog-like site allows you to share many different things like photos, video clips, quotes, links, text, and chat with other users. There are also thousands of different blogs to follow from DIY room décor to blogs all about animals. When you refresh your dashboard, there's always many new posts to check out and maybe reblog or like. You can also look up specific hashtags to find photos from blogs you may want to follow. Finally, I enjoy using Tumblr and I can spend quite a while looking at new posts or scrolling through blogs! 4.) Vine - This is another favorite mainly because of the wide variety of 6 second videos that you can find while looking through accounts. Some Vines are funny, some are more somber, and some are just plain crazy! I think that it is funny how far Viners will go to get that perfect shot or get a new trending video. I have also heard that some Viners are beginning to get small or even major roles in movies. I find this to be pretty cool, I mean, who knew that making six second videos could land someone an acting job! All in all, Vine is a great place to find cool videos to entertain you! What are your favorite social media sites? Comment and tell me! :) Have you ever noticed how now-a-days there is so much more hate in the world? Seriously, think back until before the 21st century (if you were alive then:)), you may notice how nice people were to one another. If they saw a neighbor walking down the street, they'd go greet them and have a genuine conversation with that person. Or they may even invite that person into their home to have a meal together or catch up on current events. You may now be wondering, 'Why did this kind of love suddenly disappear from our culture?' Of course there are still people in the world with a good heart, don't get me wrong. But there will always be people that are filled with hate. I for one cannot stand it when someone discriminates another. Hate crime also seems to be rise as well. If you watch the news, you may tend to notice many different stories of African-American people getting shot, and most of the time, killed. This upsets me because I can't understand why someone wants to do something as hateful as killing a man, over something as simple as race. I have also noticed people that discriminate against gay or interracial marriage. In my opinion, people need to realize that no matter who you love, no matter what race you are, and no matter what kind of person you are, we are all the same. And no one deserves to be hated on, because even if they have done something cruel, they still have that potential to realize their mistakes and they can change. Everyone can change, no matter what.
It only takes one person to take a stand. Then the ripple effect happens. You know, one person says something, then a few more catch on, and before you know it, your opinion is trending and creating worldwide effects. For example, I recently heard of a project that was created by kids, to help kids in need. To me this a great example of how our generation could be the ones that change the world. We have all the resources. All we have to do is gather a few supporters and soon your message will be everywhere. Now I have a question for you. If you could change something in the world, what would it be? I don't know about you, but my favorite season is summer. You know, the pretty clothes, the sunshine, hanging out with your friends non-stop, not having a care in the world. That's what I like about summer, and I'm especially excited for this summer. Why? I might get the chance to visit California with my Godmother for 2 weeks! She has told me lots about what to expect and what might happen, which just gets me even more excited!
First off, she has a condo right by the ocean. Which is super cool, because she told me that we can go swimming there, or in the pool that's in the center of the group of condos! She also said that her condo is very close to the house of L. Frank Baum, who wrote the Wizard Of Oz! Next, she has told me that her niece, Zoey, and her parents might be coming along too! My Godmother also said that everyday she goes to the park because she likes to watch all the action. She'll tell me about the different dogs she sees, or skateboarders doing cool tricks, or maybe a group of people having a picnic! She tells me that it is always warm out in California, and that's why there are so many people there. She told me that I may be able to catch a glimpse of a celebrity! Wouldn't that be cool! Lastly, she told me that there are many cool places to shop and to eat. She even said that there is a little surf shop that sells cute jewelry! Even though my Godmother has told me all of this, the trip isn't a for-sure thing. Although she has got the extra bedroom in her condo cleaned and ready for me and Zoey. But as much as I'm excited to go, I am a bit scared. Only because I have never been on a plane before and I'm not 100% sure what will happen. But I think having people I know with me will make me feel better, and less nervous. Those are my plans for this summer, and I definitely hope I can go! Today, there are so many different genres and types and authors of thousands of millions of books worldwide. But books are so much more than ink on pages. To many people, books are a way to escape the real world, and enter the world of their dreams. My favorite kind of books are killer mystery, paranormal, post-apocalyptic, or dystopian/utopian societies. There are many reasons why I enjoy these genres of books, but it's mostly because of the suspense and I love the thrill.
When I was younger, though, I was not a big fan of reading. But once I found the perfect book that suited my interests, I instantly fell in love with reading. To me, books are a comforting thing. For example, if you just want to hear life from a different point of view or hear someone else's story, books are there. I think of books as little adventures that allow you to imagine what it like to experience life in someone else's shoes. I really enjoy reading novels about post-apocalyptic or dystopian/utopian societies because it really gets my brain thinking 'what if that actually happened to me' or 'what would I do if this suddenly happened'. For Christmas last year, I got 2 books that seemed very interesting to me because they made me wonder about the future. One book was called 'Hungry', which was about a dystopian society where food no longer exists and its citizens take pills to control their hunger. The second book was called 'Monument 14', which is the first of a trilogy. It is about 14 kids who survive a freak hail storm and a dangerous chemical leak that infected the air, all while hiding in a supermarket. Another thing I enjoy is going to Barnes and Noble to check out the newest books, and to find new books that peak my interest. I recently found a handful of books that seemed very interesting. The first one I found was titled, 'Zodiac', which is about a the zodiac symbols and that a 13th symbol is striking back at the known 12, which are divided into planets by the people's symbols. It also stated that a young girl must travel the galaxy to warn the other Zodiac signs about the oncoming attack of the 13th symbol. Another book I found was a two-part series called, 'The Program' and 'The Treatment', which explain 2 teens trying to survive an international suicide epidemic. But as the depression begins to set in, they realize they must have to take the Program. Except they know that whoever takes the Program will come back as a blank slate. Meaning they will have no memory. I hope that I will be able to read these and many more books in the future! It’s just a normal day off for the BAU, and all the agents are enjoying themselves. Henry and Will wake up JJ, so she can say goodbye to Will before he goes to work. Then, JJ and Henry play in the yard. Beth visits Hotch and Jack to spend time with them. Morgan walks through Prentiss’ newly purchased house, while the purchase is still pending as Prentiss deals with apparent buyer’s remorse. Reid is Garcia’s unofficial date to a sci-fi convention, since Garcia and Kevin split due to his marriage proposal. Rossi is heading home after an all night cigar event. But suddenly the plans of each members day changes dramatically. The team each gets called in for a botched bank robbery attempt, and Will and his partner are first on scene. As they get out of their car, 2 of the 3 robbers involved attempt to escape through the building’s rear door. One of the robbers fires a shot at Will and his partner, so Will fired back, and it hit one robber. So the other robber fired, which instantly killed Will’s partner. This beginning gunfire started what I would call, a revolution. After this, the bank robbers, who call themselves ‘The Face Cards’, take all the people inside the bank hostages. Although, one of the Face Cards is too concerned with his brother’s safety to focus on getting out of the bank. When the BAU arrive on the scene, there are already multiple police officers and agents there, too, trying to figure out how to get the hostages out alive. Then, the Face Cards go on a shooting spree, and they kill someone every 60 seconds until the BAU sends in the cop, Will, that shot the robber, Ollie. Against everyone’s better judgment, Will goes inside to face Chris, Ollie’s brother. But suddenly, Chris shoots Will in a fit of anger. Then, Ollie dies, which causes Chris to go mad. So Chris, Will, and the woman robber, Izzy, use a government vehicle to escape the scene, after they planted bombs. The episode ends with the building blowing up, with a handful of people inside.
The beginning of the second episode begins with the BAU recovering and searching for survivors of the blast. JJ and Morgan rush inside the building along with Prentiss and a few SWAT team members. Unfortunately, the team finds no other survivors except for an elderly couple that they rescue. JJ is immediately concerned that Will is gone and fears the worst, but the BAU reassures her that they will find him and things will be all right. Suddenly, the BAU and multiple other officers and government agents are on a manhunt for the robbers. Izzy and another leader, whose name is unknown, take Will to his house, so he can say goodbye to his son. Then, Izzy decides to leave Will with her partner so Izzy can go babysit Henry, while pretending to be related to Will. When JJ finds this out she races to to save her son from the hands of a criminal. When JJ gets to her house, she asks her partner, Rossi, to distract Izzy long enough to allow JJ to enter her home. The plan is successful. JJ is able to hide her son in the closet, for his own safety, before she arrests Izzy. But, Henry’s sudden call for his mother, causes JJ to let her guard down long enough for Izzy to draw her weapon. A fight begins. Punches, kicks, weapons drawn yet not fired, and JJ and Izzy going back and forth pinning each other to the wall. Finally in a desperate effort to save herself and her son, JJ uses her martial arts skills on Izzy, which knocks Izzy out and Rossi comes in to arrest her. JJ then rushes over to the closet her son is hiding in and races him out to safety. Meanwhile, Hotch, Morgan, and Prentiss are all at a major train station searching for Will and the third unknown subject. When he is spotted, Hotch and Morgan race after him while Prentiss is still in search of Will. She finds him in a closed off section of the train station with 2 bombs strapped to him and less than 3 minutes to deactivate them. With the bomb squad more than 5 minutes away, Prentiss has no choice but to use her knowledge of profiling to deactivate the bomb herself. Her first 2 attempts at the password are wrong, but her third attempt is correct. The correct password opens up a keypad to a second bomb with only 30 seconds to deactivate it. Luckily, she can figures put the password and saves not only her own life but Will’s life. In the end, Will proposes to JJ and they get married that night. Even though everything seemed horrible in the beginning, everything turned out to be all right. I recommend that you watch these two episodes because I think they are very well written and quite intense! I don't know about you guys, but I love desserts, especially cake pops. I also love Starbucks cake pops. So, I thought you guys might want to know how to make them at home! Here you go:

I know that everyone has a different favorite show, even though your interests may be similar. For me, I watch a lot of TV, but a few of my favorites are: Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Criminal Minds, Bates Motel, Resurrection, The Mysteries Of Laura, Chicago PD, and Red Band Society. As you may have noticed, most of the shows involve some sort of criminal element. This is because I have put some thought into my future career and I thought about being involved with the criminal justice system. Here is a bit of an overview for each show:
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit - This show is definitely one of my most favorites! It's commonly known as Law and Order: SVU or just SVU and is set in New York. There have been many people that have come and gone on the show, but there are a few characters that have remained, or lasted longer than the others. SVU is also currently the longest running scripted non-animated U.S. primetime TV series since the cancellation of Law and Order in 2010. Main Characters - Olivia Benson, Nick Amaro, Amanda Rollins, Fin Tutuola, Rafael Barba, and Brian Cassidy Criminal Minds - This is also one of my most favorites as well! It is based in Quantico, Virginia and they are part of the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). The team focuses on profiling the unsub (unknown subject) instead of the crime itself. The team investigates many very interesting cases that require a lot of thought and profiling. Main characters - Aaron Hotchner, Penelope Garcia, Derek Morgan, Jennifer Jareau (JJ), Spencer Reid, David Rossi, Alex Blake, and Kate Callahan Bates Motel - This series is called a 'contemporary prequel' to the classic film Psycho in the 60's. It is based in White Pine Bay, Oregon, yet the show is shot in British Colombia just outside of Vancouver. Bates Motel portrays the life of Norman Bates and his mother Norma. After the death of her husband, she and Norman move to a motel by the coast. Main characters - Norma Bates, Norman Bates, Dylan Massett, Bradley Martin, Sheriff Alex Romero, and Emma Decody Resurrection - This show is mainly about a community in Arcadia, Missouri where the dead have started to return to life. At first it seems normal and harmless but then it turns dangerous. They think that a boy named Jacob is the first returned, but things this has happened before. But soon dark and mysterious secrets soon arise, things are not always as they seem.. Main characters - Maggie Langston, Jacob Langston, Lucille Langston, Henry Langston, Sheriff Fred Langston, Rachael, J Martin Bellamy, and Pastor Tom Hale Red Band Society - This show is a series about life in a hospital, and, no it's not as boring as you think it might be. All the teens in the hospital have some sort of life threatening disease, like cancer. Red Band Society tells the story of their lives as they encounter things like loss, love, anger, sadness, and most importantly, friendship. Main characters - Nurse Jackson, Dr. Adam McAndrew, Dr. Brittany Doble, Kenji Gomez-Rojen, Emma Chota, Leo Roth, Jordi Palacios, Charlie, Kara Souders, and Dash Hosney In conclusion, those are some of the many TV shows that I watch and I enjoy them all. What are your favorite shows? Comment and tell me! :) |
