A hobby that I enjoy is reading, and by doing this I have read many books by a variety of authors. But, I have favorites, which are John Green, Veronica Roth, and James Dashner. As you may already know, John Green is the author of the ever popular book "The Fault In Our Stars", but he has also written other great books including Paper Towns, Looking For Alaska, An Abundance Of Katherines, Will Grayson Will Grayson, and Let It Snow. I really like the way John Green writes because his books have taught me to look at life from a different perspective, which makes me appreciate the life I live more than I had before I read any of his novels. Veronica Roth, the author of the Divergent series, is another favorite author of mine. I think in her books, she has taught me what true sacrifice is, and what true friends will do for one another in order to save someone's life. I recently finished Allegiant, and while the ending was pretty sad, I still think that it was a beautiful way to end the book. James Dashner is my third favorite author who wrote the Maze Runner series and the Mortality Doctrine. I think his books bring out the curious side in me, due to the level of mystery and adventure in his novels. All 3 author's books are movies or soon will be, which makes me happy to know that I can see the book that I read play out on the big screen. I will definitely continue to read any new books that they publish in the future. Lastly, I really enjoy John Green, Veronica Roth, and James Dashner's novels, and if I ever got the chance to meet them, I would want to thank them for changing my life through the power of books.
Out of all the people I could choose as my hero, I think my mom would be the person that has the most influence on me. I say this because she has taught me valuable life lessons, as well as she is a two-time survivor of breast cancer. In 2003 and 2011, my mom found out that she had breast cancer. So soon after she decided to get a mastectomy, so that she didn't have to go through chemo and radiation. I remember the day of her second surgery, which the date was 11/11/11, and I had to go to school. Before I left, I hugged my mom and told her to be brave. That day at school, I made a card for my mom and got all my 5th grade classmates to sign it, as well as my 2 teachers. I remember the car ride to the hospital, as I was excited to see my mom to give her the card. When she received the card later that night, I will never forget the look of pure happiness that spread across her face, as well as the tears that welled up in her eyes. As my dad and I left later that night, it made me feel happy to know that I made my mom's day, and that she would be a little happier than she may have been that morning. To me my mom is my hero because she always gives me great advice. I also think that my mom is very strong and a fighter, since she fought and survived breast cancer twice.
That is my story of who my hero is! Of course I have celebrity heroes, but I thought I would tell you guys about my personal hero. Who is your hero? |
